STOP and GO

One of first projects the students worked on in my Intro to Art class was learning how to draw out letters as opposed to writing it out. I was fairly surprised at how many students found it very difficult to draw out simple block letters, but by the time we practiced and finished this Street Sign project, they were kind of hooked on creating their own fonts and lettering. This is a simple lesson I took from my colleague, Tony. Students learned to draw out their names and then were asked to incorporate it into a street sign of their choice. The trick is to be able to still recognize the street sign when they were done. They had the option of paper cutting or illustrating their signs out.
