I always like to have my Beginning students paint winter birds right before the holiday break. That way, they have something to take home when they leave for break. Last year we painted winter bird cards, so this year we painted large winter bird ornaments. I showed them step by step how to paint in branches and add snow on top. And then they designed their own bird to glue on top. The project itself took a week to complete as we painted each step together as a class. Needless to say the students were excited to give their painted birds to a friend or family member.
