Cultural Plaster Masks

This plaster mask project has become one of my favorite lessons to teach, because it’s so student driven that I actually only have to demonstrate the technique part while the students do all the research and create their designs on their own. The plaster faces are all from molds so they turn our very generic at first, but the kids have done such a great job transforming their board into some really fun and colorful tribal and cultural masks that really showcases what they have learned about their culture.
